Medical Laboratory Technician Location: San Dimas, CA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,847 per week Shift Information: Nights - 5 days x 8 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Scientist Profession: Clinical Laboratory Scientist Specialty: Clinical Laboratory Scientist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 PM - 07:30 AM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum two years of hospital laboratory work experience License: Current and Valid State License if required Certifications: ASCP certification or equivalent required Must-Have: - Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements as stated in CLIA. Description: Each individual performs only those waived, moderate, or highly complex tests authorized by CLIA. Each individual must possess a degree of skill commensurate with their education, training, experience, and technical abilities. Each individual performing the above procedures must adhere to the laboratory’s procedures for the collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results. Individuals must follow the laboratory’s established quality control policies and procedures. They are responsible for documenting all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications. They should be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance. They must either correct the problem or immediately notify their supervisor, director, or medical director. They will perform a wide variety of laboratory procedures requiring independent judgment using both manual and automated methods in various disciplines including Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, and Immunology. Individuals are required to perform and document maintenance on instruments and equipment as appropriate. They must review the accuracy of patient results prior to releasing or reporting. They should recognize age-specific differences in expected results for newborns to geriatrics. They will ensure that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples. Collaboration with other laboratories is prohibited prior to the reporting of proficiency testing results to the appropriate agencies. Individuals may need to perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on various age groups from newborn to geriatrics. They will assist in the development and maintenance of laboratory policies and procedures. They must adhere to all department and hospital policies related to safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and human resources. In the absence of a supervisor, they may be assigned responsibilities as Lead Tech, having responsibility for the section or department during their shift. They may have additional responsibilities related to Laboratory Information Systems and/or Point of Care testing.
