Job descriptionThe Role -H2U Technologies aims to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy by making real the promise of a clean energy future powered by hydrogen. To aid in the development of a scalable, cost-effective, green hydrogen future, H2U Technologies innovates with our pioneering High Throughput electrocatalyst discovery technology combined with the manufacturing of a new generation of PEM electrolyzers. -H2U Technologies is seeking an experienced Nanoparticle Catalyst Chemist as a key member of the catalyst development team. You will be working with the other team members of the High Throughput Experimentation team to develop synthetic techniques that can produce newly discovered non-precious metal catalysts at commercial scale. -Key Responsibilities:

  • Be proficient at synthesizing nanoparticulate catalysts from earth-abundant materials for scale up and incorporation into MEA's for PEM electrolyzer designs
  • Create large quantities of nanoparticle catalysts developed by other team members using wet chemistry techniques.
  • Maintain careful research records, reports, and other documents to meet technology dissemination and patent protection
  • Maintain skills/knowledge by reading literature, taking courses, and/or attending technical meetings
  • Assist with customer visits and attend technical meetings
    Qualifications + Experience:
    • Ph.D. degree in Organometallic, Inorganic, or Materials Chemistry with 3+ years of relevant catalyst synthesis experience preferred
    • Experienced in the preparation, purification, and characterization of nanoparticle and/or nanostructured electrocatalysts
    • Skilled in the art of standard inert chemistry techniques utilizing a glove box and/or Schlenk line
    • Skilled in design and execution of reaction/catalyst screening
    • Skilled in electrochemical characterization including electrochemical impedance spectroscopy
    • High-throughput reaction evaluation/robotics
    • Knowledge of inorganic or organic chemistry, especially in chemical and solid-state analytical techniques
    • Experience with nanoparticle characterization techniques including electron microscopy and x-ray diffraction
    • Experience with electrochemical device integration or membrane electrode assembly
    • Experience in scientific computing is appreciated
    • Experience with LabView software set-up/installation for use with lab instrumentation.

The process prepares, characterizes, and quantifies the catalytic activity of millions of compositions per month and then closes the loop with big data analysis and AI to refine/guide the search.Similarly, current electrolyzer technology is complex and expensive. H2U's response is a novel and disruptive design, made to drive rapid and large-scale adoption of grid scale electrolysis.
