ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Maintains the campus grounds, landscape, parking lots and garages in a professionally clean setting and safe presentation. Maintains of irrigation and watering systems. Monitors to ensure that standards of performance are met, policies and procedures are followed, operating objectives are achieved, and that compliance with laws, regulations, policies and procedures is maintained. Manages, coordinates and controls the operation and personnel activities of direct reports. Performs employee evaluations. Monitors and coordinates scheduling of orientation, safety, mandatory and on-going training of direct reports, vendors and contractors. Prepares time and cost estimates for grounds maintenance and landscaping. Exercises independent judgment in supervising and responsibly directing assigned staff. Delegates and assigns work to personnel for effective utilization of their skills and to meet business needs. Recruits and orients new employees. Ensures all employees are sufficiently trained to carry out their duties. Creates an engaging workplace and encourages others to contribute creative and innovative approaches to achieve continuous improvement. Drives a performance culture through appraisals and other coaching. Disciplines personnel when deems appropriate. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Must complete all required safety trainings as scheduled Practice Defensive Driving at all times (if required) Complies with all policies for the safe storage, usage and disposal of hazardous materials Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Minimum Education High School Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required Minimum Work Experience Five years' technical experience: Preferred Required Licenses Other Qualified Applicator (chemical) License (PAPA) or Pest Control Applicators (PCA) License: Preferred Certificate in horticulture or landscape field: Preferred Valid Driver's License (DL): Required Refer to the Required Licenses and Certifications list for additional job and/or unit specific requirements. This position requires working outdoors, in mechanical/equipment rooms and possible extreme weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and heavy equipment. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock (high voltage); and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
