RSA designs and produces custom-engineered high pressure/high-temperature ducting assemblies for each customer's specific performance requirements. RSA's Peri-SealTM is one of the most sought after connectors in the aerospace industry. Additionally, RSA designs and produces flexible joints and hoses, ozone converters and many complex assemblies to meet stringent customer needs.Job Summary:Reports to Engineering Director as part of the welding engineering team. Responsible for development and improving weld processes and welder certification process along with RSA weld engineering team. Will provide design engineering and tooling design feedback and/or approval of new product and tooling designs pertaining to weld joints (i.e. fusion or resistance weld definition). Assisting weld shop and welders with process improvements, certifications and documentation. Guide technicians with implementing process improvements, certifications and documentation.Principal Duties & Responsibilities: Must be certifiable to RSA internal CWI and AWS B 5.2 as a visual welding inspector. Must have general knowledge of AWS D17.1, AWS D17.2 and customer specifications. Responsible for fusion and resistance welding schedule development and documentation with support of the shop floor, including development of weld processes/parameters for various weld processes, and identification of new and/or improved welding processes/techniques. Support MRB actions by aiding and guiding appropriate staff in correct repair or corrective action steps. Responsible for customer and NADCAP compliance audits with support of the Quality Engineering team, including: preparation of checklists, including supporting maintenance of NADCAP Certifications for GTAW and RSA Welding processes. Conduct welding internal process audits with support of the Quality Engineering Team. Expert knowledge of applicable NDT processes and specifications Support production with the procurement of welding process supplies, including filler materials and production compliance raw material (i.e. raw materials for weld compliance coupons). Development of a production Kan-Ban method is required. Ability to interpret and understand drawings and drawing requirements Able to assist welders with process problems related to welding Provide innovative, technically significant welding solutions in support of design and fabrication of mechanical ground support Management and execution of welding qualification tests, along with interpretation of results including inspecting weld samples and/or working with nondestructive test (NDT) personnel to interprets weld quality. Management with Quality and HR of welder certification status which may include, but are not limited to: welder eye exam records, training records, customer and internal weld certification status Management of weld procedures, welder's qualification records and process qualifications records are maintained & updated Work with design and manufacturing engineering to resolve materials joining issues before and during manufacturing and provide technical support to customers. Develop estimates for weldments and other work for the sheet metal group. Perform other duties as assigned. QualificationsMinimum Education, Experience and Skills: Experience as a weld engineer or welding expert in the Aerospace industry for 5 years minimum. Experience with development of weld procedures schedules. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Extensive knowledge of materials, weld symbols and fabrication drawings, Knowledge and clear understanding of the following weld processes: Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, Spot resistance, Knowledge and clear understanding of the welding codes: AWS D17.1, AWS B5.2, AWS D17.2, AWS B5.2 Collaborate effectively with engineers/customers concerning feasibility, design, etc. Able to work on hardware models in solid Works or equivalent and to have related computer skills Excellent verbal and written communications, computer skills and be able to work independently with minimal supervision ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL ABILITIES REQUIRED: Employee is required to sit, walk, stoop, use hands to finger, talk and hear.
