Engineering Development Technician II

The Engineering Development Technician II will have the
opportunity to work on a variety of advanced unmanned system
prototypes to develop solutions for a variety of defense and
commercial applications. The Engineering Development Technician
will be responsible for assisting projects and programs with the
building, integration, documentation and maintenance of Test
Systems. This takes many forms, from the building of small
components, tools and test fixtures, to the full assembly and
upkeep of complete Test Systems. The ideal candidate is an
experienced electronic technician experienced supporting a Test
Engineering team in new test system development and also supporting
Interface with the test engineering team to help streamline
design and build test system from initial conception from either
verbal instructions or hand sketches.
Use a variety of test equipment and other items including 3D
printers, as well as a variety of internal laboratory tools.
Requires use of soldering iron to assist with electrical
Meet scheduled timelines and, in some cases, aggressive
deadlines to have test system, test harnesses and fixtures ready
for project milestones.
Effectively document important processes and build techniques
for successful readiness of equipment and transition of
responsibilities to other individuals
Follow engineering designs and building concepts/prototypes and
assist with testing and data collection.
Having substantial understanding of the job, applies knowledge &
skills to complete wide range of tasks.
Work on assignments that moderately difficult but recognizes the
need to think outside the box for effective solutions.
Completes new assignments with little instruction and receives
little instruction on routine work.
Position requires general upkeep and setup of test areas for
projects and prototyping. This includes ordering equipment,
maintaining tools, and being proactive on safety
Fabricate cable assemblies from simple to complex, which may
include crimping, slicing, and soldering.
Responsible for creating engineering documentation (schematics,
mechanical drawing, Bill of Materials. Wiring diagrams, etc.
Engineering Change Order release of documentation.
Support calibration database and routine calibration of
Order shop supplies, tooling, fasteners, materials, equipment, &
misc. supplies on a day by day basis.
Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
A.S. Electronics Engineering Technology or similar major or
Minimum of 2 - 4 years of technical experience (emphasis in
electronics) or equivalent combination of education, training, and
Experienced building fixtures, tools and parts or electrical
Experienced in troubleshooting of electronics to sub-assemblies
and/or to component level.
Experienced in development of build/assembly documentation
Requires local/domestic travel (both driving and flying) to
contract manufacturer & repair sites.
Must have a valid Driver’s license and clean driving record.
Periods of development may require long irregular hours around
deadlines, weekends and some holidays.
Requires general proficiency with Microsoft Office Software and
general computer skills
Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies
Higher education is desired
3D printing experience is desired
Exposure and use of 3D modeling and programming software (such
as Solidworks/SURFCAM) desired
Demonstrated familiarity with aircraft and/or Remote Control
Proficient through training and/or experience using tools such
as Solidworks, Altium and Visio.
Ability to read and understand schematics is desired
Interprets instructions given by engineering team (verbal or
written), asking for clarity where needed, and updating or
generation of documentation, which could include drawings and
Able to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment,
where small teams share a broad variety of duties.
Displays strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and

Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds as well as objects of varying
sizes and shapes for shipment to and set up at various contract
manufacturers and repair sites.
Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use
hands and fingers to operate a computer and/or telephone
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
This position requires the use of information which is subject
to compliance with International Traffic Arms Regulations (ITAR).
