responsible for overseeing the withdrawal process from drugs and
alcohol. They work with patients who are experiencing symptoms
related to substance abuse, including withdrawal symptoms,
cravings, and other issues that may arise during this time. The
role of a LVN is not limited to managing withdrawal symptoms; they
also provide support and counseling to help patients through their
recovery process. This can include helping them find treatment
programs or services that will aid in their long-term sobriety.
LVNs have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:
Performing physical assessments to determine the patient’s current
health status and predict outcomes of treatment Conducting
interviews with clients to gather information about their
lifestyles, habits, and medical histories Coordinating with
physicians and other healthcare professionals in order to develop
treatment plans that meet each patient’s individual needs Educating
patients about their treatment options and helping them make
decisions about their care Monitoring patients’ progress throughout
treatment to ensure that they are responding well to treatment and
that there are no concerning side effects or adverse reactions to
medications Conducting tests to measure blood pressure, weight,
body fat composition, and other factors that may affect a patient’s
health status Administering medications or providing other
treatments to patients based on their physician’s orders
Participating in clinical research trials that test new drugs or
treatment techniques in order to improve the quality of medical
care available to patients Providing support and education to
patients who are dealing with addiction issues, including helping
them identify ways they can overcome their addictions and stay
sober Requirements: - Active listening – Giving full attention to
what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points
being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting
at inappropriate times. - Speaking – Talking to others to convey
information effectively. - Critical Thinking – Using logic and
reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative
solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. - High school
