As a Locum Nurse Practitioner, you will perform non-treatment Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments, primarily interview-based with some physical assessments. This role offers the flexibility of PRN scheduling—perfect for balancing work and personal commitments—whether you prefer half-day or full-day shifts. You will work in designated VA facilities or your own office locations, depending on the assignment, with travel covered and the opportunity to impact Veterans' lives positively. Required Skills: Valid Nurse Practitioner license in California Experience in general medicine, internal medicine, family medicine, or related fields Ability to perform non-treatment exams, including interviews and physical assessments such as range of motion and muscle strength testing Strong communication and interpersonal skills Detail-oriented with excellent report-writing capabilities Nice to Have Skills: Prior experience with compensation and pension (C&P) exams or veteran healthcare assessments Familiarity with VA or government-related health examinations Certification in relevant specialties or additional training in veteran care Preferred Education and Experience: Active Nurse Practitioner license with California Board of Nursing At least 2 years of clinical experience, preferably in general or internal medicine Experience conducting assessments in a telehealth or remote setting is a plus Other Requirements: Ability to work in designated locations with a 30-50 mile radius; some flexibility for remote or rural assignments Willingness to complete onboarding and credentialing process promptly Availability starting from February 2, 2026 Travel expenses are covered within the rate structure; ongoing follow-up administrative work is included in daily/half-day rates Starting at an hourly rate of $402, this position offers an excellent compensation package with weekly direct deposit payments, comprehensive benefits, paid sick leave, and additional reimbursements for licensure, certifications, travel, and more.
