We're looking for someone to join our team as a Medical Staff
Acts as liaison between organization administration and the medical
staff. Processes initial medical staff applications for
presentation and approval. Provides supportive services to medical
staff officers, committee chairpersons and other medical staff
members. Coordinates small program(s) with limited
- Reviews all applications, including profiles, with
Department/Section Chairperson prior to submitting to committee.
Initiates, designs and revises credentialing and privileging forms
for medical staff for compliance with accreditation and licensing
requirements, as well as any new technological/therapeutic industry
- Initiates letter of inquiry regarding claims history,
additional required training, health status, peer preferences,
organizational staff affiliations, board certifications,
out-of-state licensure and any other relevant information needed
for processing reappointment applications.
- Indicates problem areas, privileges that are out of the scope
of specialty, derogatory information, etc. Conducts additional
follow-up, as requested. Assists management in conducting the
annual review of medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations,
policies and procedures, and all documents pertinent to the medical
staff that is maintained in the department.
- Conducts all follow-up matters including appointment letters,
updating database, requesting additional privileges and explaining
the reasons/s for the condition/limitation/deferment. Develops,
revises, maintains forms and templates, and physician information
in the Medical Staff Database program.
- Participates in organizational performance improvement as a
medical staff credentialer and in departmental improvement projects
as appropriate. Maintains confidential files on practitioners.
- Provides Support to medical staff committees including agenda
preparation, meeting notices and follow up items.
- Attends all committees and transcribes minutes to established
- Preparation and distribution of Emergency Room
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Job QualificationYou'll be successful with the following
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
- Associate's/Technical Degree in business or information
management or equivalent combination of education/related
- Five years medical staff services and/or health plan
credentialing experience: Preferred
- Credentialing certification (CPCS): Preferred
