ALS provides a diversified line of independent analytical services to a wide range of top-tier customers in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, environmental, and food industries. Our diverse laboratories perform routine and specialty analytical testing for compliance, safety, certification and verification purposes.General Accountability:The primary purpose of this position is to work with customers to determine their analytical testing needs, to coordinate with laboratory and administrative staff to ensure that these needs are understood, and to ensure that the service provided to the customer adequately meets their scope of work.This position has a strong customer service component to it - you will be taking numerous phone calls per day and responding to inquiries via email, so friendly, prompt communication is essential. The ideal candidate will be courteous, professional, understand a sense of urgency, be organized, and be able to work with daily deadlines. Must be able to work independently as well as with colleagues in client services department.
Responsibilities Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with appropriate test method selection and offer technical guidance.
  • Coordinate sampling equipment shipment and receipt.
  • Review client login/documentation received with shipments versus project setup in laboratory information management system to ensure correctness and completeness.
  • Generate analytical reports from laboratory software system.
  • Prioritize and monitor projects.
  • Day-to-day client communication.
  • Maintain and grow client relationships through professional communication
  • Manage and interpret customer requirements - speaking with clients to understand, anticipate and meet their needs
  • Coordinate with laboratory staff to ensure customer project requirements are met.
  • Maintaining records of customer communications and contact information as requireFor more experienced candidates,
    • Make technical presentations and webinars
    • Represent ALS at all project meetings.
    • Prepare responses to RFP (requests for proposal) and RFI (requests for information)
    • Attend and participate in conferences and other marketing events
    • Communicate sales or service opportunities and customer concerns or suggestions to the laboratory
    • Identify and resolve client concerns; recommending a course of action to alleviate these concerns in the future
    • Expand market awareness of our services and expertise by communicating value, service and reliability
    • Research market requirements and market data
    • Maintain knowledge of competitor products and identify and report intelligence on competitor pricing or marketing strategies
    • Submit a variety of status reports as required, including client trending, quote activity, follow-up, and adherence to laboratory strategic goals
    • Submit quarterly customer visit plans; schedule client meetings and action plans for follow-up

      Job Requirements:Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
      • Technical background preferred
      • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
      • Strong proficiency with office software such as MS Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat necessary for daily tasks Required Education and Experience:
        • Four year degree - BS or BA
        • Degree in Chemistry or any related science strongly preferred.
        • 5+ years of experience in analytical laboratory operations idealPhysical Demands:
          • Able to speak and hear clearly while communicating with staff, management, and clients.
          • Able to sit, and/or stand for 100% of an 8 hour day.
          • Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate computer and other equipment.
