We are currently seeking a Sr. AeroMechanical Engineer to join our team. Job Duties and Responsibilities Conducts general engineering and design of aero-mechanical systems including development, integration, testing, and documentation. Develop and implement comprehensive plans to support the structural design process by calculating aircraft loads and stiffness/stability requirements using aeroelastic methods on aircraft structures Guide the team in the construction/modification of capable aeroelastic models and nonlinear analysis tools to be used in highly flexible structures Utilize tools to predict structural performance of system over entire operating envelope, including transient maneuvers, gusts and other dynamic load conditions Devise physical testing plans to validate virtual model and vehicle structure performance Inform the team of current regulations and requirements to support airworthiness and certification efforts Support design reviews and work with partners to critically analyze design and analysis of subsystems Support test operations; some travel and weekend work may be required Work closely with other engineers, technicians, and vendors/suppliers in the design of components, processes and tooling. Analyze and estimate design cycle timelines for structural development programs and proposals Required Qualifications & Background MS degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Structural Engineering or related field or equivalent is required. PhD is highly desired. 10 years experience in aircraft structural design and analysis with emphasis on flexible structures. 6-10 yrs experience with PhD. Experience analyzing and testing vehicle rotor or propeller systems highly desiredProven experience modeling systems and handling flutter and divergence instabilities. Experience with designing systems to MIL-810 is highly desired Testing experience performing analysis on physical testing data and hardware Experience with Finite Element Modeling tools. Preference is experience with NASTRAN. Nonlinear structural analysis of composites experience required Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills Familiarity with composite aerospace structures design and manufacture is a plus. Must be willing to work on government contracts and ability to obtain security clearance is required. Able to excel in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment Ability to mentor junior engineers is desired Additional Requirement: This position requires you have access to data and technology that is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
